My 1986 Mustang LX 2.3 turbo.

Turbostang

This car has a 2.3 turbo engine from a 1985 Thunderbird Turbocoupe along with a 1993 2.3 T5 transmission and for the time being a 7.5 inch open rear axle with 3.08 gears.

It’s got an T3/TO4 E 50 trim hybrid turbo which I got because my stock T3 went out and I figured I would get a upgrade since I had to spend money anyway… See the turbo and the engine here.

The engine has a Racer Walsh stage one turbo cam (slider), I installed their valve springs along with doing a lot of porting on the cylinder head. I spent most of my time porting the pockets behind the valves. The intake and exhaust port size is fairly large the way it is.

I spent hours porting my E6 casting exhaust manifold which made my car spool up much faster than my stock E3 casting.. See the E6 manifold Here.

I made my own adjustable fuel pressure regulator, which you can see Here

I made my own 3 inch down pipe, which you can see here.

I picked up a 255lph fuel pump for the car, it helped my high end power as my stock one was not capable fueling the power my car was making at the time.

I installed a Toyota Supra front mounted Intecooler, which you car see here.

I got a Hurst shifter for the T5-I highly recommend it. My dad has a Pro5.0 on his 1996 GT and I like my Hurst better!

I also have a RAM clutch I got out of Racer Walsh, very happy with it’s holding ability. I just wish my clutch quadrant was more healthy…

I have only had this car to the track once so far and I had many problems with it. It just wouldn’t run right that night. See my time slips here.

Some pictures of this ond some of my other Fox bodies can be seen here.

Here is my Friend Andy’s Turbo Escort Project!!
